About This Item
Washington: Samuel Harrison Smith, 1801. Comprising the 1st and 2nd sessions of the sixth Congress. Two volumes; uncut and mostly unopened; in original plain wrappers (titled in ink); the title page is bound in at the end of the second volume; some wear, but overall in excellent condition. One assumes that this publication is seldom found in this original state. This Congress, beginning at the end of 1799, was held during the administration of John Adams, who is noted in print as having approved (signed into law) various acts and treaties. Jefferson is noted as Vice-President and President of the Senate. The most important act published was probably the Judiciary Act. This Congress also established the Indiana Territory; the country was quickly expanding westward.
