New York: Pantheon Books, c.1954. First Edition. Fine in 1/4 green and brick red cloth covered boards with gilt on black title blocks on the spine with gilt rules and a black line art sketch of an Indian on horseback on the front board. An small quarto measuring 9 1/4 by 6 1/4 inches with light foxing on the edges of the text block. Without a dust jacket; however, the book is contained within a very good+, paper covered slipcase with moderate wear to the opening edges. From the title page: "Being those parts of The Deerslayer, The Last Of The Mohicans, The Pathfinder, The Pioneers, and The Prairie which specially pertain to Natty Bumpo otherwise known as Pathfinder, Deerslayer or Hawkeye; the whole arranges in chronological order from Hawkeye's youth on the new York frontier in King George's War until his death on the Western prairies in Jefferson's Administration." Edited by Allan Nevins and illustrated with line drawings by Reginald Marsh. 833 pages of text. 833 pages of text. A very clean and tight copy with no prior ownership markings of any kind.
