The selections were chosen because they pertain to Cooper's Natty Bumppo character, and are arranged chronologically from the character's youth through his death during the administration of Thomas Jefferson. Edited by Allan Nevins, and with black & white illustrations by Reginald Marsh. --- In Toledano G6 spine / red cloth / gilt-stamped ML cover hex logo / spine titling & decorations in gilt and black / blank GA style endpapers / dust jacket style Gh, verso is blank.
