Original brownish red cloth covers with gilt spine titles and a textured cover decoration. First Edition. Novel from noted abolitionist John Greenleaf Whittier, first published as 'non-fiction' journal excerpts from a member of the Massachussetts Bay Colony. A Very Good copy. Book has shelfwear, severe edgewear, bumped corners, sunning to spine, discoloration to inside covers and endpapers, and toning to pages. No dustjacket. 12mo.
