About This Item
New York: Harper & Row, 1963. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Second novel from the late McMurtry, author, screenwriter, and bookseller who demythologized the American West and won a Pulitzer prize for Lonesome Dove. His first novel, Horseman, Pass By, was filmed as HUD starring Paul Newman in 1963. Leaving Cheyenne took a little longer, but was eventually adapted into a movie called Lovin' Molly in 1974, starring Blythe Danner as the title character. First edition, signed by McMurtry on the ffep. Very good+ copy with some soiling to boards and owner's name on ffep. First state jacket is nicely preserved with light sticker shadow over the original $4.50 price. The jacket shows some typical fading, mainly to spine, and save for two small strips along the top and bottom edges due to previously being housed in an old style jacket protector. A very nice copy.
