Includes details and personal recollections of the five years he spent with the Legion (under the alias James Smith), his assignment in the 3rd Regiment in Morocco, his transfer to the 4th Regiment in Syria, hardships and warfare, his return to England, etc. 312 pgs. Illustrated. Frontispiece photograph of the Jebel Druse Warriors. Rear endpaper has some isolated foxing. Light natural age-browning to text and cover edges. Spine slightly sunned.
