About This Item
First edition. Original publisher's green paper covers. Titles to the front cover and Imperial crown to the rear. Almost spotless but for a tiny mark to the front cover and a very small (5mm) closed tear to the front edge. Beautiful hand coloured caricature by Fleury of Napoleon stepping from Elba to Paris in a single step. He is holding the tricolor flag in one hand, and in the other a sword and an olive branch. He is watched by various members of the royal family, equipped with telescopes, each uttering a sentence as memorable as " As water, water everywhere !" or "This man will make his way"... Only Berry suggests "Let's wage a little war on him" In excellent condition bar a touch of darkening to the page edge. Unintelligible signature in ink to the verso of the engraving. 8 pages uncut. An excellent example. 325 by 250mm (12¾ by 9¾ inches). . 325 x 250 mm
