Paris: Albin Michel, n.d. [1923]. [French literature] FIRST EDITION, BOUND BY LEVITZKY. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.347 [5]. Fine contemporary navy half morocco, gilt-ruled, with decorative paper over bevelled boards. Spine in five compartments, red labels titled in gilt, with red onlays and gilt tooling. Original cream softcovers and backstrip bound in at front and rear. Decorative matching endpapers. Top edge gilt, the rest untrimmed. Original bookmarking ribbon loosely inserted. Some light toning to preliminaries and rear blanks. Small binder's label to flyleaf verso. Binding especially lovely, with gentle rubbing only to joints, raised bands, and spine extremities. Near fine. Novel in original French by the prolific writer André Corthis, who won the Prix Femina in 1906. Finely bound by Georges Levitzky.
