About This Item
Paris: H. Piazza. Presse de Jacoub, Aulard & Cie., 1919. First Limited Edition . Full Morocco, with slipcase. Very Good . No. 520 of 1,500. 4to, 12 by 9 inches, 31 by 24 cm. ix, 125, [1] pp. With 24 tipped-in color plates, and additional black and white drawings interspersed through text. Rubbing to the joints, and a few rubbed/raw spots on spine, which is also slightly darkened. Original wraps bound in, with a short closed tear to bottom edge of this front cover. One tissue guard had an ugly tape repair which left a stain on the tissue guard, the neighboring text page and a plate. A few creases to the tissue guards, which in addition to their protective function, carried caption text. Typical wear to slipcase, which has marbled pastedowns on all sides. This remains solid and attractive. Within the book, minor occasional soiling (beside the tape shadow spoken of already), but overall, a clean, beautiful copy.
