First edition of this pressbook issued by Warner Brothers to accompany their 1940 film The Letter, based on Somerset Maugham's short story. The film starred Bette Davis, Herbert Marshall and James Stephenson and was nominated for 7 Academy Awards. This pressbook includes advance and current publicity features about the film directed by William Wyler, and has various black and white stills from the film. It also includes advertisements for promotional material such as lobby cards and posters. Loosely inserted is a fold out 8 page also showcasing the film's various ad campaigns. A scarce piece of cinema ephemera relating to a classic Hollywood adaption of Maugham's famed short story.
