Impressive assemblage of information compiled for the 25th Congress by the Select Committee on the Subject of Steam Engines, a 472 page report containing a detailed investigation of the principles, construction, installation, use and power of steam engines. An epidemic of explosions beginning in approximately 1820 had continued and the committee's report was in part an analysis as to the possible causes. CONDITION & DETAILS: Complete. 472pp. 23 cm. The text-block is entirely intact and solid, however the boards are missing. A plethora of tables; profusely illustrated. Quite minor light occasional browning.
