About This Item
Chicago:: University of Chicago Press,, 1992.. First Printing of the First Edition. A Near Fine tight copy with an owner name on the flyleaf in a Fine bright unclipped dust jacket. This collection of Dinesen's letters, primarily written to members of her family, cover the 17 years she spent on her coffee plantation in Kenya. While her famous memoir of her African experience--Out of Africa--was written ten years after she left Africa and spoke specifically to the African experience, these letters address the daily immediacy of that period in her life; they also address more specifically the one person she did not mention--the young, inexperienced Isak Dinesen.
