About This Item
New York / London: Harper & Brothers, 1934. Adventure fiction involving a rumored treasure in an old manor house once owned by a War of 1812 privateer, and a sagacious collie dog. Hardcover, as pictured; stated first edition (first printing) with C-I date code, meaning March, 1934. One of Harper's clever 'Sealed' mysteries, which a reader could return for refund, if the seal over the last chaper remained unbroken. Here, neither seal nor jacket remain, though a tipped-in slip at page 223 explains the deal. Book shows light wear, minor staining, front jacket flap pasted inside front cover along with a rubberstamped name, rubberstamp of Madison (WI)'s venerable Co-Op bookstore on free endsheet, minor foxing to endsheets & page edges; no jacket. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Duodecimo.
