About This Item
FE. THOREAU, Henry David. LETTERS TO VARIOUS PERSONS. Boston: Ticknor and Fields, 1865. First edition. A most interesting copy, inscribed by Annie Delano to her Uncle Ned on 31 July in the year of publication. An early inscription as the book was not listed for sale until the August 1865. The recipient, Edward Delano was one of President Franklin Roosevelt's maternal grandfather's brothers and Annie Delano was his aunt. There are a few tiny nicks at the head and tail of the spine and some foxing throughout the text, on the whole, however, it is a sturdy pleasing early copy with an interesting pedigree. (BAL 20116, binding a).
