One of 1000 copies, signed and inscribed on half-title page by Harrison to director Hal Ashby: "To Hal Ashby with admiration - Jim Harrison." Harrison (b. 1937) American author, poet and screenwriter; received a B.A. and M.A. in comparative Literature from Michigan State University; Assistant Professor of English at State University of New York at Stony Brook, before resigning to write full time. Ashby (1936-88) American director; won an Academy Award for "In the Heat of the Night" (as editor); directed "Harold and Maude" (1971), "The Last Detail" (1973), "Bound for Glory" (1976), "Coming Home" (1978), etc.
