Santa Fe, NM: Rydal Press. VG+/NONE. 1937. First Edition. Hardcover. VG+, prior owner name and gift inscription to front free endpaper. In Good slipcase with minor edge wear, circular rings to one board of slipcase, light soil to the other. Slipcase is a very tight fit for the book. Small closed tear to half title page. Spine cloth lighlly faded. ; Nice production by the Rydal Press. Author was the 17th Governor of the New Mexico Territory and had served as Second Secretary of the United States in St. Petersburg from 1898 to 1901. The Ambassador to Russia during that period was Charlemagne Tower, who also, later served as Ambassador to Germany. Prior owner of the book was Charlemagne Tower IV, whose name appears on the ffep. The gift note reads: To Peter Tower / From Aunt Marjorie. Tower IV, was an automobile racer who was also know as Peter. Nice copy with an interesting provenance. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 191 p. .
