About This Item

A Londres: Chez G. Owen T. Cadell... [i.e. Paris? s.n.], 1772. "A fictitious correspondence, attributed to the Marquis F. de Barbe-Marbois" --BLC, vol. 189, page 207. Cioranescu 21762 attributes this work to Claude-Prosper Jolyot de Crebillon. The letters in vol. 1 span the years 1753 to 1762; those in vol. 2 and vol. 3, 1746 to 1752. Fictitious imprint; cf. Die falschen und fingierten Druckorte / E. O. Weller. Title-page of vol. Hard Cover. Three octavo volumes bound together: [xi], 179; 163, [16]; [xii], 151 pages; 17.5 cm. Very Good+/ bound by Dragonfly in full red leather with gold tooling. The book may not be authentically royal, but the binding sure is. Stock#NS0299.
