Parisiis (Paris): Ex officina Gerardi Morrhi Campensis, 1531. Later Edition. Very Good+. Published for the Sorbonne University in Paris, this book would have been a primary medical text about the health and benefits of food by the Greek physcian and philosopher Galen. Galen took the concept of the four humors as described by Hippocrates and popularized then for centuries, this work is part of his massive surviving works. First translated to Latin and reintroduced to what was the Western Roman empire, or modern western Europe, during the Renaissance, this work, as well as others remained significantly influential into the 19th century. Bound in modern half vellum over grey boards with black leather spine label with "IPPOCRATES" in gilt. Edited and with an intoriduction by Hermannus Cruserius Campensis (Herman Cruserius) dated 1531. Pages are lightly toned with spotty foxing; text is all sharp and clear. Overall, in very good+ condition.
