About This Item

New York, NY Macmillan Publishing Company, 1917. Hardcover Second Edition (1917), Revised & Enlarged. This printing is dated 1924 (from the title page). Very Good: shows light wear to the extremities; mild rubbing to the panels; the slightest spine lean; very faint sunning to the darkblue-green background field of the backstrip, but the gilt titles thereon remain unaffected: bold and clearly legible. The binding is perfectly secure; the text is clean. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome copy, structurally sound and tighly bound, showing only mild wear and a couple of minor flaws. Close to 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 475pp. Inlaid designs at front panel. Illustrated with many reproductions from original Paintings, Photographs, et cetera. Volume Two of a Two Volume set. First Published in 1895 by McClure, this biography went through numerous printings until republished as a "New Edition with New Matter" in 1917. This impression appeared in 1924. Hardback: No DJ 'as issued'.
