Philadelphia: T.B. Peterson & Brothers [1870], 1870. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo. [2], 17-484, 1-6, 1-14, [4] (pages of publisher's advertisements) pp. Blue blindstamped publisher's cloth with gold lettering on the front board and gold lettering on the spine with Dickens' embossed in gold on the spine. Brown coated endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with a facsimile of Dickens' signature and with a frontispiece portrait of Charles Dickens. NCBEL III 828. Personal recollections and anecdotes, letters by "Boz" (Boz was Dickens' pseudonym), never before published, and uncollected papers in prose and verse. The volume also contains Dickens' will, and a note on Dickens' feud with American publishers. Traces of rubbing and age darkening to the cloth, a small dampspot affecting the fore-edge of a few leaves.
