Full embossed and gilt decorated leather over boards is worn epecially at edges and spine. Previous owner's name on title page. Pages clean, tanned, occasionally foxed, with gilt on edges all around. ; David Bell Birney (1825-1864) was a businessman, lawyer, and a Union general in the American Civil War who died while in service, possibly of typhoid fever. 10.0" tall; 418 pages.
