About This Item
New York & Auburn: Miller, Orton & Mulligan, 1856. Headley wrote many popular bigraphies; he was active until the 1880s. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition (or possibly early reprint). Red cloth binding, stamped and ruled on the covers; spine lettering and decoration in gilt. Clean text; 383 pages, with three pages of publisher's adverts for popular bigraphies in the rear. Corners are bumped, spine has darkened and the gilt is dulled. Previous-owner signature on the FFEP. Text is quite bright, clear, and unfoxed, but the pages are rather stiff to turn. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Edition.. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket.
