About This Item
1946. HIRSCHMANN, Ira A. LIFE LINE TO A PROMISED LAND. NY: The Vanguard Press, [1946]. 8vo., cloth in the fragile dust jacket. First Edition, third printing. The author relates how he, as a special representative of the U. S. Department of State, tried to rescue Jews from the Balkans. Signed presentation from Hirschmann on the front endpaper, to author Anita Loos.: "For Anita. Who was a blonde life-line when I needed it. Sincerely, Ira Hirschmann. 4/30/48." Of course, Loos is best known for "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." News clipping about this book tipped to rear pastedown, presumably by Loos or Hirschmann. Very Good (some soil covers); worn (several chips & tears, with internal repair with archival tape down spine) d/j. $45.00.
