London: Printed for Sherwood, Neely, and Jones, 1821. First Edition, First Issue. Full Leather. Very Good. The Brothers Cruikshank. Octavo. The Genuine First Edition, without the footnote on p. 9. The first sheet of music is unnumbered. 36 fine, vibrantly coloured aquatint plates, designed and etched by I.R. and George Cruikshank, woodcuts by the same artists; and 3 folding sheets of music printed both sides. Full gilt-framed red morocco, gilt decorations in the spine compartments, top edge gilt, gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers, bound by Zaehnsdorf. Joints rubbed, front hinge started, a bit of tanning and light spotting to the margins of a few plates, otherwise interior quite clean and bright. Rare in the first state.
