Marbled endpapers match the bindings, head and tail bands, gilt tops, five raised bands on spines. Bindings are firm. A facsimile of a round-robin addressed to Dr. Johnson tipped in the front matter of Volume Three and a facsimile of a letter from Dr. Johnson (dated March 1755) to the Chancellor of the University of Oxford tipped in the front of Volume Five.
