In it, the title character is shipwrecked and castaway on a remote tropical Caribbean island for 28 years. It is believed that Defoe used the real-life story of castaway Alexander Selkirk as a model. With 120 original black & white engraved illustrations by Walter Paget. Possibly published c.1890s-1920s. --- Bound in full red cloth-covered boards with illustrations, decorations and titling in gilt and black to cover and spine. --- A Fair-only copy with tears to cloth at cover extremities, repaired front and rear hinges, prior owner's rubberstamping and some soiling to cloth, else a tightly-bound, sturdy copy.; Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; viii, 416 pages .
