Pp. xxviii + 499 [&] xvi + 568 [&] xvi + 586 + 24, illus with b&w frontispieces (frontis in vol I missing) and 3 coloured maps (endpapers and prelims very spotted; ex school library with bookplate on front paste-downs and usual stamps and markings).
