About This Item

London (St Martin's Street): MacMillan & Co, 1912. Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Complete in 3 volumes. Reprint of 1903 publication. 12mo. Appear to be ex-school library books. Volume one has a presentation plate on the front paste down endpaper indicating that the set was presented to the school by Gladstone's son, Henry Neville Gladstone in 1929 but no proof of provenance. Red cloth-covered boards with blind stamp decoration (a little rubbed at corners and head and heel of spine and lightly marked). School stamps on front free endpaper in all three volumes. Remains of stickers on each spine. A nice set, with possible interesting association with the subject. History for the life of politician and statesman William Ewart Gladstone, British Prime Minister in the 19th century.
