Six volume bound in contemporary red polished calf over red buckram boards, five raised bands with gilt lettering and decorations back, marbled end papers, tops gilt, signed binding by Birdsall, Northampton. Vols. I, III and V: Autobiographical and Political. Vols. II, IV and VI: Critical and Literary. Near Fine, slight rubbing to calf at spine ends and corners. Giuseppe (Joseph) Mazzini (1805-1872) was an Italian writer and political activist who played a large part in helping to found a unified democratic republic of Italy.
