"There is a prayer unsaid,
No lips its accents move;
"Tis uttered by the pleading eye And registered above.
Each mystic sign is prayer, By the hand of Mason given;
Each gesture pleads or imprecates
And is observed in heaven."

"The antiquity of Freemasonry is one of its strongest claims to respect, and those who are laboring to disprove it are its enemies—copiously illustrated."

This is a stunning and all-original 1899 edition of this Monumental book of Freemasonry. I have had a couple of these over the years, but this is undoubtedly in the finest condition I have owned or ever seen. It discusses the Masons and delves into Mythology, The Knights Templars, and the Holy Lands. Just for an age reference, this book was printed and bound 15 years before the First World War of 1914. It is a museum-grade book that is fascinating and historically important for future generations. Before listing this edition, I checked every major online bookstore and couldn't trace a single 1899; needless to say, it's a rare printing. They don't make books this good anymore, and I don't think they ever will. I would snag this one before someone else does...

The overall condition of this book is very good for being printed during the 19th-century Victorian era. It has some normal shelf wear and age, and the pages are naturally toned but exceptionally well-preserved.
