Foulis. 1917. 8vo. 22cm, 3rd impression of 1914 first edition, 227,15]p., publisher's ads., with 12 colour illustrations tipped-in on grey extra stock paper, blue cloth, gilt spine titles, stamped in black on the upper cover, slight fade mark on the upper board, bookplate removed from the front endpaper, very good to fine copy (gar). ~ Scottish novelist John Hay Beith (Ian Hay), 1876-1952, gives a humourous look at British school life. He writes from experience as he was a schoolmaster from 1907 to 1912. With delightful illustrations of school characters from the pastel drawings of Lewis Baumer.
