We have deliberately chosen a fairly large format for this publication to allow us to do full justice to the high quality photographs and to enable the reader to study in detail many of the aircrafts various features and paint schemes. Accurate illustrations of the squadron badges have also been included along with the badges of the training and target facilities flights. The introductions and captions to each squadron are a detailed account of its history whilst operating the Lightning. ‘Lightning Force’ sums up the shear exhilaration of the power, speed and noise that is the Lightning.
