About This Item

London:: Hurst & Blackett, , (1969). Hardcover first edition -. Ex-library with the usual markings, some spine slant and soiling to the edges of the trexblock, but overall good condition in a good dust jacket. Many of Yorke's early books are found most readily as ex-library copies, a fact which is not surprising when one realizes that she was presented with the Golden Handcuffs award by the British library service for becoming the most-borrowed author.. First printing. The 'limbo ladies' are women excluded from English social life because they are widowed, divorced (as is Sarah Marston, the heroine of this novel) or unmarried. A stand alone novel by this prolific British crime novelist, this emphasizes how Sarah comes to value her own strength and independence. 184 pp.
