Paris, Gruel Engelmann, 1874. Small hardback, approx 6 x 4 inches. Full red polished morocco leather binding with gilt ‘crucifix’ designs to boards, raised banding and gilt lettering to spine, and decorative gilt dentelles to inner board edges. Decorative gilt endpapers. All page edges gilt. In very good condition. Rubbing to edges and corners, some rubbing to boards. Neat inscription to front endpaper. Gilt binders stamp to bottom of spine “Gruel.” One or two minor spots to inside pages else plates all very clean, bright and tight. A very good clean and tight copy. 664pp. Illustrated with 4 B&W engraved plates. With decorative chapter headings and letterpieces.
