Luis Blanco Vila Romáanica has a Ph.D. in Romance Philology and a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and is Professor of The Theory of Literature at the San Pablo-CEU University in Madrid, and has combined journalism - as a correspondent in Paris and Rome - with the teaching of Contemporary World Literature. He has also been a professor of post-graduate courses in Library and Information Science. Among his more than twenty published books of fiction, essays and research, are 'Dos días antes y otras antiguallas' (Two Days Earlier and Other Antiquities), 'Diálogo con las sombras' (Dialogue with Shadows),'Memorias de un gato tonto' (Memoirs of a Silly Cat) and 'El último vuelo del Principito' (The Last Flight of the Prince), his most recent novel as of 1999. He has received the Café Gijón, Felipe Trigo and EDEBÉ literary awards. His literary studies 'Para leer a Camilo José Cela' (Reading Camilo José Cela) and the more recent 'La crisis de las ideas en el fin-de-siglo' (The Crisis of Ideas at the End of the Century) have already become necessasry reading. His work as translator, reviewer and editor of the 'Leyes y Letras' (Law and Letters) collection of classical literature and Renaissance humanists studies is important and includes works on St. Augustine, Machiavelli, Erasmus, Thomas More, Juan Luis Vives, Montaigne, Montesquieu, Goethe, Chateaubriand, Prosper Mérimée, among others.
