About This Item

London: Oxford University Press, 1960. Early Reprint. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Near Fine/Very Good. Edward Ardizzone. Tall 8vo. Pp. xii, 302. Illustrated with numerous Ardizzone drawings. Ochre cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the spine. Boards square, leaves crisp and bright. In the color illustrated dust jacket with price 12s 6d intact on the front flap: top edge slightly age-toned, spine a tad darkened and spine head with a shallow chip. A bright, presentable copy. Award-winning collection of twenty-seven stories, many in the style of fairy tales. One of Ardizzone's best contributions to a children's book, and his wrap-around dust jacket illustration presents an ideal domestic vignette. Dust jacket is now preserved in a clear, removable archival sleeve.
