The title of this work is a little misleading: the lives of the subjects are examined, rather than visiting their homes. The guide is a one-volume version of the larger set, with brief profiles of the subjects. This 1928 reprint set follows the earlier Roycrofters editions which appeared at the end of the nineteenth century.
