I have taught this as a class novel to high school sophomores and to high school ESL students. Its satire is accessible and funny to teens. All teenagers can identify with the protagonists (dwarfs) as they all struggle with accepting their own physical imperfections and limitations. The characters Sydney and Little Little show the readers how to accept themselves and recognize their true friends, and they do this with great fun and insight.
