New York: Samuel French & Son, 1857. First Edition. Original wrappers. Very Good/4-mil clear mylar envelope. 36 pp. Yellow wrappers. 4 1/2" x 7 1/2". A play about the California Gold Rush, authored by Author/Illustrator/Banker Alonzo Delano, an argonaut who wrote under the name, "Old Block" (Old Block's Sketch Book. Zamorano 80, #29). Delano was a prominent citizen of early Grass Valley, California. He was held in such high esteem, that when he died in 1874, flags were lowered to half-mast. According to the Author's Note, this play was based upon real people Delano met in his western travels. Cowan p. 163. Kurutz178a. A Very Good copy (Slightly soiled and edgeworn; small chips to front cover; split at spine) now in a clear 4mil mylar envelope. NOTE: a very fragile piece.
