London: G. Walker, Etc.. Good+ with no dust jacket. 1821. Hardcover. Complete set of three volumes. Original brown leather with gilt decorative border and four bands on spine. Spine joints repaired and held together with clear tape on Volumes I and III. Volume I has a two inch spine piece missing and the rear board is completely detached. All spine ends are worn down to the headband. Signatures still tight. Soiling of covers and heavy rubbing and bumping of board corners and edges. Marbled edges and endpapers with bookplates of the same owner in all three volumes. Foxing throughout, heaviest on endpapers. Thinker, lexicographer, and prolific author Samuel Johnson's observations on the English poets. ; 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall .
