Bound in red cloth with gilt titles to the spine, this 1929 First Edition hardback is in VG condition, with no dust jacket. 269pp. Indistinct water stain on spine, lightly rubbed top and bottom of spine, which is slightly faded. Internally clean, barring light foxing on prelim pages and last few; with previous owner's name in ink on FFEP, and The Times Bookclub sticker on rear pastedown. Foxing to fore-edge of text block. Otherwise, a VG copy of this rare early work of Henry Green. . Very Good. Hardback. First Edition. 1929.
Synopsis
Henry Green was the pen name of Henry Vincent Yorke. He was born in 1905 at the family home of his parents, near Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire, England, and was educated at Eton and Oxford. He worked at the family engineering firm for most of his life and pursued a parallel career as a novelist. He married in 1928 and had one son. During WWII he served in the London Fire Brigade. He died in December 1973.
