Halifax, Yorkshire: The Lodge of Probity No.61, 1939. Limited first edition. 1/500. Large octavo. Dark blue buckram boards with gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. Pages uncut. Beveled edges. Top edge gilt. Illustrated frontispiece. This book is #386 of a limited printing of 500 copies, signed by the author at the colophon. The work examines the history of the Lodge of Probity No. 61 located in Halifax, West Yorkshire, UK. The Masonic lodge is known to be the oldest lodge in West Yorkshire. The book contains 30 illustrated plates of b/w reproductions, throughout the text, and includes a fold-out frontispiece with a b/w photographic reproduction of the original warrant for the lodge, measuring 11.5x9", mounted on thick white cloth. Binding with some light rubbing/bumping to the extremities, and some light stains to the spine and bottom right corners of the back cover. Some light scratches and smudging to the covers. Interior with light creases to the edge of the frontispiece. Binding in very good-, interior in near fine condition overall.
