About This Item

Halle: Max Niemeyer, 1921. Second edition. Hardcover. Good+. 3 vol. 8vo. [3], vi-xxii, [3], 4-257, [1]; [3], iv-xi, 1-508; [3], iv-xiii, [1], 1-244 pp. Half black cloth over grey paper boards with gold lettering on the spine. Grey endpapers and pastedowns in volume one, the others white. The first two volumes in the set were printed in 1913, the final one was done in 1921. Second revised and expanded edition. Honderich 382-384. Lapointe 6-7. Husserl's monumental work which introduced the philosophical world to phenomenology, in its original language. Husserl is generally regarded as the principal founder of phenomenology and one of its leading and most influential proponents. Logical Investigations abandons the psychologism of his earlier works at least in part due to criticisms from Gottlob Frege. This work influenced thinkers in both the continental and analytical schools of philosophy, including Heidegger. Light wear to the extremities, volumes one and two with marginalia (pencil and ink respectively), volume two's front hinge cracked.

Synopsis

Husserl's text reprinted from v. 18-19 of Husserliana, published 1975-1984 by M. Nijhoff, The Hague and Boston. Includes index.
