Brown Cloth Boards with gilt lettering on spine. Ink markings plus inked former owner and date (1961) on front free endpaper.
FFEP has small hole in upper left of page, in addition to some foxing. From title page on there are no marks on text. Binding is tight, some foxing on page edges and foxing on back of first back free endpaper.
DJ has original price of 10s6d on inside front flap. DJ is in G+ condition, with minimal edge wear and chipping. One small closed tear to upper left on front of DJ.
This is the true first UK 1957 first edition, first printing. Please see photos.
This was John Osborne's first successful play, and the first example of the new 'Harsh realism' the debuted on the London stage. Adapted into a film by the same director, Tony Richardson who directed the original play production. It starred Robert Burton, and Mary Are in 1959. Mylar protected.
