A Very Good Plus hardback book with a former owner's name neatly written on the front free endpaper, otherwise unmarked. Red cloth boards with bright gilt titling to the spine. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket. Very good with slight edge creasing, and with the slightest touch of fading to the base colour of the spine, but all titling clear - negligible. The dust-jacket is now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks Near Fine. (vi) + 330 pp. Illustrated throughout in b/w by Vernon Hurford. "This book is a carefully selected collection of weekly articles written between 1958 and 1978 by Mr. Harry Davies whilst he was employed as a journalist by the South Wales Evening Post and which appeared in that newspaper under the title of "Looking Around Llanelli". The articles help us to appreciate the social and economic changes, many of them gradual and so almost imperceptible at the time, which have dramatically changed the character of the people of the town, and also changed its geography, during the last hundred years or so. The author highlights, vividly and skilfully, these evolutionary changes in the industrial, commercial, religious, educational, political and cultural life of the town and records the passing of old crafts, customs and practices." .
