London: Michael Joseph, 1946. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Very Good in a Very Good jacket, unclipped (9/6 net), lightly toned at the spine and edges, rubbed at the edges. Brown buckram with silver gilt lettering on the spine. Firmly bound with a forward lean and toned pages, former owner's name inside the front board, the last page creased, clean otherwise. The fifth published novel in Forester's Hornblower series.
Synopsis
Lord Hornblower (published 1946) is a Horatio Hornblower novel written by C. S. Forester. In 1814, Hornblower is delegated to deal with the Flame, a brig full of mutineers off the French coast, near the mouth of the Seine. It is a tricky situation because the mutineers' demands cannot be met, but they have threatened that if a Royal Navy force tries to force their hand, they will slip into a nearby French port.
