Black hardbacks (gilt illustration on the front cover, gilt lettering to the spine, small mark, nick and scratch on the edges of the back cover for The Hobbit) in near fine condition, with original slipcases (small dents, nicks on the slipcases small tear and mark on the edges of the slipcase for The Hobbit, printed on the front of the slipcases) in VGC. No Dj cover as issued. Illustrated with colour plates , colour folded maps. Illustrations by H.E. Riddett. Nice and clean pages as new with Dappled green on the outer edges, a couple of small creases and nicks on the edges of the pages. Nice and clean two volume set with light shelf wear on the slipcases.1479pp appendices, indexes, foreword, list of illustrations. A collectable and scarce deluxe edition set. Heavy books (approx. 1.9 Kg).

1969. Hardback. Acceptable. 4th Impression. Acceptable condition. There is no box cover for the item. Printing error. There are 5 consecutive pages which have some excess paper at the bottom corner and have been folded over due to this. There are scuffs to the edges and corners of the cover and some pages have folds to the corners. There are some marks to the page edges and the back matter has a 4mm tear to the side edge. Otherwise in very good condition with pages crisp and clean.
