Phoenix House Limited, London, 1951. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: Photographic. List of illustrations, map of Inca Ruins, acknowledgements preface by author, bibliography and index. The text is illustrated black-and-white photography, 14 pages, between pages 64 and 65. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. The finding of the lost city of the Incas – Machu Picchu, by the author in 1911-12; and of the early excavation of same. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with bumping and rubbing of the book corners. A little rubbing of the other book edges and panels with sunning and almost complete fading of the gilding of the titles on the back strip. Age toning of the text block edges and pages and there are a few foxing spots to the text block edges. Offset tanning to the end pages. Slipped loosely into the book is the front panel fold over and a little of the rear fold over. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. (4), 5 - 224 pages,. Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
