About This Item

New York: Bonanza Books, 1967. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Leon Gordon Miller ("Graphics and Aesthetic Commentary"). 4to. Pp. xv; 289. Bibliography; illustrations; index; maps; photographs in both black-and-white and color. In the photo-illustrated dust jacket that has an ink smudge on the spine the size of a US quarter. Polly Miller was born in Seattle and moved to New York to attend Columbia. After working as a labor journalist, she returned to Seattle with her husband, Leon, an industrial designer and fine artist. They shared an enthusiasm for arts of the Northwest Coast. This book is a tribute to that passion.

This copy was owned by Albert Salisbury, owner of Seattle's Superior Publishing, and known as "Alki Al" by those who knew him and his beachcombing ways in West Seattle. Although the book has no ownership marks, a 1970s color snapshot of the totem pole at his beach house was used as a bookmark, and is laid in. Dust jacket is now housed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
