New York, Charles Scribner's Sons, 1953, hardcover, 303 pp, First Edition with (A) on copyright page, First Printing, Very Good in Fair dustjacket, Signed by the Author, his full name without inscription, on the front endpaper. Straight, tight and clean, light signs of erasure to front endpapers, previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Dustjacket price-clipped, edge chips to corners and spine-ends, small scuffs, fading to spine, tape repaired tear to fold at rear of spine, in new Brodart sleeve. The former Arizona horse wrangler and author of Apache Land, The Bubbling Spring, and Hardrock and Silver Sage reminisces about everyday life on the vast open ranges of the American West, perhaps the most authentic picture of cowboy life ever put down on paper. Profusely illustrated throughout with 26 drawings by the author.
